PRESTON DRAMA CLUB present
BUSYBODY
By Jack Popplewell, directed by Dennis Yardley
22nd to 25th February 2012
Det. Supt. Harry Baxter is plagued by a head cold and two busybodies - a corpse that disappears and Mrs Piper, the officious and chatty office cleaner who discovered it.
All the office staff and the corpses wife are suspect, but when the corpse walks in alive and well, this is almost the last straw for Baxter.
However, Mrs Piper insists she saw a body, though is no longer sure whose and Baxter is persuaded to continue his investigations, naturally enthusiastically helped by Mrs Piper.
Busybody was first presented at the Duke of York's Theatre, London. With this comedy thriller the author was on the top of his form. It broke records everywhere. It ran for four years in Paris; Irene Handl as the chatty cleaner toured it to Australia and New Zealand; and it thrived in at least 30 other countries.
Even the critics enjoyed it.
