History
The Preston Playhouse, has been in the business of amateur dramatics since 1949. Transformed into a theatre just after the war with the help of many generous patrons and Preston Drama Club, it has provided local drama and dance groups with modern facilities to produce a variety of shows, plays and performances over the years.
Drama Societies
Preston Drama Club, Broughton players, Grimsargh players, Preston Gilbert and Sullivan Society and the Players drama school are all regulars at the Playhouse. These groups consistently put on the plays that make the two packed and varied seasons which run back to back from September to June each year.
Facilities for hire
But more than that, the Playhouse is open to any group of performers or any organization who wish to hire it’s stage, auditorium, conference and rehearsal rooms and bar for any number of occasions.
Volunteers
It goes without saying that the effort of a great many people over the years has been essential in keeping the Playhouse running year after year. All of the people involved are volunteers. And without their hard work, ideas and enthusiasm the show, quite literally, would not go on. In return, these folk make great friends, are involved in great entertainment and have a great deal of fun.
